Update for Colleen

Dear Colleen Supporters,

Okay, I’ll admit it. I met Colleen recently when I agreed to write for her, and it was love at first sight, or rather love at first touch. I have a thing for cats with soft fur. And Colleen not only is a beautiful cat, with her tabby and white mix, but her fur is super soft.

And she’s so sweet. The moment I touched her, the purring began. She gazed at me with those lovely green eyes, and I melted at once. I have to admit she was fast asleep when I arrived and any self-respecting cat lover would have let her sleep, but I so wanted to get to know her that I traipsed across Adoption Room #1, watched her for a moment or two, then couldn’t resist making a move. She stirred, spotted me, sniffed, and without hesitation recognized me as a friend and began purring.

Now I like a cat who purrs with gusto. Colleen is such a cat. She wanted to be petted. She liked the attention. I was kneeling in front of her on the floor, but when I stood up and went to sit next to her on the chair, she climbed onto my lap, tilting her head to and fro, rocking closer and closer. Finally her face was butted up to mine, and she kissed me.

So that’s how it’s going to be, I thought.

You’re a real lover.

And then it was time to eat. She hopped down and waltzed over to her food bowl for a bit of a snack. That’s when I noticed that the dark brown capris I was wearing were like a magnet for her white fur.

Adoption Room #1 where she lives has a great condo for the cats to play on. I tried to lure her to jump onto the condo to play with one of the cat toys, but she was content to play on the floor and watch the stuffed mouse come to life. She tilted her head once or twice as if to say–I’m no dummy. That’s not a real mouse. Now if you got me a real mouse, I’d jump up there. I’d show you.

No problem.

This month she’s been stable health-wise thanks to her anti-seizure medicine. Our fingers are crossed that she stays that way.

But there is a rumor going around that she is aunt to one of the kittens at Tabby’s Place that looks just like her. So perhaps Miss Colleen has a secret past we know nothing about.

Thanks, as always, for your generous support of our dear sweet girl, Colleen.
