Update for Colleen

Dear supporters of Colleen,

Let me begin this month with the medical news, because it happens to be good news! Colleen’s mouth is finally back to normal. The Tabby’s Place vet team proclaimed her dental situation “beautiful,” and Col has been able to discontinue her antibiotics. So, yeah, I am smiling as I’m typing this!

As for Colleen’s living situation, well, it is kitten time at Tabby’s Place. If you’ve been in the sanctuary lately, you can’t fail to have noticed how the place has been overrun with the little furry creatures. They are everywhere…especially in the Community Room, where Colleen hangs out the most.

For a while, our dear, sweet girl was taking refuge in one of the cages or in a box so that she could rest in peace without being attacked, mauled, jumped on, or otherwise treated like a toy. Kittens do what kittens do. In fact, the Tabby’s Place staff witnessed Colleen watching the swishing tail of one particular rascal, Piccadilly. And who could blame her if, unable to resist, she pounced, quite unladylike, on the little one’s tail. Not to worry, however; Piccadilly was delighted and pounced back. There was no satisfaction to be had from that encounter!

The other week, when I was visiting Colleen, our girl was trying to rest on the couch near the window and, perhaps, steal a few rays of sunshine. Piccadilly sauntered over, and, as you can see by this photo, desperately wanted to be “friends.” I couldn’t resist snapping the shot, especially since their similar coloring makes them look like they are related.

All Colleen ever wants is a little peace and quiet…and sunshine, of course. And a nice cool water fountain to sip from. And some tasty morsels to chow down on. A cat’s life. Pure and simple.

Until next month, Colleen and I both thank you for your continued generosity. Enjoy the lovely summer weather we are having.
