Update for Colleen

Dear Supporters of Colleen,

The wonderful, great, fabulous news about Colleen continues this month. First, she looks beautiful. The regular acupuncture treatments have been continuing, and as I reported last month, the dermatitis and facial pawing are all but a thing of the past. Colleen’s complexion could grace the cover of any Cat Fancy magazine. She could be named Cat of the Year, if she wanted such notoriety. And let me say this–when she saunters along the avenue, ahem, the floor in the Community Room, the heads of the other kitties do turn . . . how can they not?

The medical staff reports that acupuncture is the perfect solution because it is a kind of “treatment on demand.” If the staff notices the reappearance of any facial dermatitis or facial pawing, they can easily schedule an acupuncture treatment. Yeah.

The only other minor issues we’ve had to deal with this month have had to do with her ears and her weight. She had a bout of “goopy” ears, which was cleaned up. Phew. And she put on some weight, which was a good thing. Oh, to have the life of a cat!!

Over the past month when I’ve been visiting, Colleen has seemed much more content and less fidgety. Except when she wants out of the Community room. Oh, you heard me right.

I’m sure she won’t be offended if I call her a prima donna. All of the kitties at Tabby’s Place are happy to be here and happy to have their own space, a suite – if you will – to live in. Colleen, however, has laid claim to two separate areas (and at times even three for I’ve spied her hanging out in the boss’ room.) In truth, she spends most of her time in the Community Room, but I suspect she misses her spot near the door in the Lobby. I’m referring, of course, to that lovely spot with the sun that shines in early in the morning.

When Colleen used to be strictly a Lobby cat, she loved to lie there in the sun. I used to hang out there with her. So, my theory is she likes to return–once in awhile–to that spot and just lie there on the rug and feel the warm sun on her fur.

Who can blame her?

The summer is the time for sun and fun, and who loves the sun more than a cat?

So, the next time you’re enjoying the sweet sun on your face, think of our lovely Colleen–curled up on the welcome rug in front of the main door to Tabby’s Place, soaking up the rays in her own special way.

We thank you, as always, for your generous support.
