Update for Buddy

April greetings to you, and to all Buddy’s buddies.

Well, when last we left you, Buddy was returning to normal thanks to Tabby’s Place care and the food he wanted. This month, it’s good to be able to say Buddy has made a full recovery, his blood work is reported A-OK, and his visits to the scales have gone from twice a week back to just monthly.

Even better, Buddy can be proud that his stand against that nasty ol’ prescription food was not in vain. Showing what one determined cat can do against The Man, not only has Buddy been delivered better food, the entire suite will have better food too!

OK, those are actually alternate facts. The non-fake news is that Suite FIV is about to start to transition to a different prescription food. The first prescription food — the one against which Buddy went on hunger strike — has been deemed to have done its job in stemming the diarrhea among cats in the suite. Of course, transitioning cats from one food to another is not an overnight process, and no doubt little Buddy is keeping his options open to keep his mouth closed.

A well-fed Buddy is a happy Buddy, and it was a happy Buddy I saw during my most recent visit to Suite FIV. He wasn’t the first cat to reach me when I opened the door of the solarium — as always, that was accomplished by my ol’ pal Charlie — but while Lester and Wolfie and Mona remained on their heated bed, Buddy hopped off the igloo (pictured) down to the floor.

The concrete must have chilled his paws, because he quickly crossed the floor and climbed onto a blanket-covered bed. From there, he stepped and stretched his way onto a chair along the wall next to me and offered his head for petting. I’m not the only human reporting that Buddy is welcoming human contact. I’m told that Jonathan Rosenberg himself proudly mentions that recently, he has been able to pet Buddy repeatedly.

I hope you can get to Tabby’s Place soon to enjoy some Quality Time with Buddy, too. There are fancier places where a cat can live, but you won’t find one anywhere with more love. On his behalf, thank you, for your continued support of Buddy and Tabby’s Place.
