First of all, thank you from the bottom of my heart, and Bubbles’ beautiful heart, for opening your heart to this charming, cross-eyed little cat. It wasn’t long ago that our tiny Bubbles had nobody on her side…but today, she has wonderful friends like you. I can’t begin to tell you how much it means to all of us at Tabby’s Place to know that you cherish our Bubbles, too!
I’m Angela, Tabby’s Place’s Development Director, and it’s my joy to formally welcome you to Bubbles’ world. Starting in March, you’ll enjoy monthly updates from Susan, one of Bubbles’ volunteer socializers.
In this month of hugs and kisses, our outrageously-adorable little girl continues to steal hearts at every turn. Bubbles may not be quite ready for us to smooch her, but she’s making brave progress.
When little Bubbles first came in from the cold to live at Tabby’s Place, she was totally terrified of all humans. If you even made eye contact with her, she’d scramble into a hidey-hole, trembling. If you were so bold as to reach out and pet her, Bubbles would fly into a panic, and you’d be badly bloodied by her frantic, flying claws.
She didn’t mean any harm, really; she was just in a desperate fight-or-flight state, and she chose both.
But what a difference a few months make. Today, Bubbles will have an entire “conversation” with you, using the language of slow eye-blinks. Often thought of as a “kitty kiss” or a feline “smile,” the slow, gentle blink is a way cats tell each other, I’m friendly. We’re OK. I mean no harm. All’s cool. We tell Bubbles this with our loving blinks, and it’s a joy to “hear” her answer in kind.
Even more momentously, Bubbles is bobbling out from her hidey-hole this month. It doesn’t happen every day, and she’s easily startled back into her nook, but more and more, we see our little sweetie stretching her legs and strutting through her suite.
These are all very good signs. With love, patience, and faithful friends like you, we are confident that Bubbles will someday realize just how beautiful love can be.
Meantime, she’s loved to the utmost, and she has all the time she needs to bloom. Dear sponsors, thank you for making that possible for our tiny Bubbles. She is blessed to have you in her life.
