Update for Boots

Happy March, Happy Spring, Happy St. Patrick’s Day, my dear friends!

In spite of the fact that I seem to have once again developed allergic dermatitis on my bum, I am in fine spirits these days. I hope that you are too, for the weather is warming, the sun is returning, and the grass is once again greening. Spring is returning!

Yes, it’s true, my bum is pretty grody again. More accurately, it’s my lower back, just above my tail. Close enough to be called my bum in a pinch. Ach.

But on a brighter note (and speaking of pinches!), it’s nearly St. Patrick’s Day. Time for another rousing rendition of a classic Irish tune for you, my lovely friends. I was humming a nice one just the other day, thinking it would be a good one to share with you. Then I found out that the human version of the song involves theft and imprisonment. None of that for me, I’m a good cat these days! You’ll like my version of the song, though…I was thinking of you when I wrote it.

Black Velvet Cat

CHORUS
My eyes they shine like a diamond (2 claps)
you know I’m the king of the land (2 claps)
other cats look over their shoulders
For I am a black velvet cat (2 claps)

In a neat little town they call Ringoes, apprenticed “to cat” I was bound
and many’s the hour of sweet happiness I’ve spent in that neat little town
no bad misfortune will haunt me or send me away from this land
far away from my friends and companions who love me, a black velvet cat CHORUS

As I went strolling through Lobby, not intending to stray, that’s a fact
I met with an obliging sponsor, who offered a very soft lap
a skritch she gave to my noggin, like buttuh I was in her hand
I swooned and I purred as she pet me, good luck for the black velvet cat CHORUS

After breakfast (and snack) the next morning, I awaited more love with good cheer
as other cats claimed various callers and got their own skritch on the ears
seven long years I’ve been hoping to find my forever home grand
though I love my dear friends and companions and they love me, the black velvet cat CHORUS

So come all ye darling dear sponsors while I wait my forever home true
whenever you’re visiting Ringoes, give some cuddles to your favorite Boots!
for I’m filled up with love and affection and I’m sure that you, too understand
just how much our friendship does give us, for I am your black velvet cat!

Much love to you!
