It’s February, and we just had Valentine’s Day, and, well, I’m in love. You know I have long been fond of my tasty fishy treats, but just a few weeks ago, my eyes were opened to the world of shredded chicken. I will never be the same.

You see, cute little Tanzy has been privy to this treat for some time now, unbeknownst to me. But this month, I caught a whiff of that glorious food, and after I asked, over, and over, and over, and over (you get the idea), I got a serving of my own! There’s no other way to say it. I’m in love.

My kitty friends and I have been in the midst of adapting a Broadway musical, South Pawsific, for our own entertainment, and chicken is my new muse. The other cats laugh at me, but I just can’t help but burst into song.

Here’s an excerpt from the script. Have you got your waltzing shoes on?

I Just Love Tanzy’s Chicken, Oh My!

Boots:
I expect every cat in the lobby to laugh
That poultry – white meat! – tasty fish should supplant.
And they’ll say that I’m mean just to think I should seize
Shredded chicken that’s cooked for a kitty named Tanz.

Fearlessly I’ll face them and argue their doubts away,
Loudly I’ll sing about chickens and things.
Handsomely I’ll stand on my handsome white feet and say
Love is a grand and a beautiful thing!
I’m not ashamed to reveal
The world famous feelin’ I feel.

I’m as hungry as kitties at sundown,
I’ve seen people with chicken walk by.
No more fetish limited to fresh fish
I have found me some chicken delight!

I’m in an alimentary dither,
With that non-piscinal food in my sights.
