Update for Boots

My dear friends,

I hope you are having a lovely fall season so far. I’ve had a pretty quiet month myself, and I am very okay with that. It’s that time of year when I can feel the cold weather creeping closer, and all I want to do is store up all the sunshine I can so I’m prepared for the cold and dark of winter.

Life in the lobby has been fairly uneventful – in part because I’ve allowed it to be so. No brawling for me this month. Even some of the people have noticed and are wondering if I’ve mellowed. Rest assured, I have not. I just haven’t felt inspired to administer any beat downs lately. Even when Morgan started hanging out in the lobby and Halie decided to stake out new turf (she’s even been sleeping in a bed by the door!), I’ve let them be. Mind you, it’s not because I’m afraid of Halie. Just because she could probably beat the tar out of any living being doesn’t mean that I couldn’t take her on if I wanted to. I just don’t want to. Yeah, that’s it.

Mostly, though, I’ve been spending my time being lavished with love. Just the other day I scored a love trifecta – three groups of people loving on me, all at once!

First, my faithful scribe stopped by for a visit and some lap time. Toya tried to horn in on our cuddle time, but my correspondent had conveniently sat so that I could employ my “bump on a log” napping technique and give Toya the stinkeye at the same time. Toya was smart enough to find someone else to pet her.

Then, while I was still in my napping position, a family arrived to visit. I stepped down from the lap to the sofa so that they wouldn’t think I was unavailable for smooshes, and their little girl came right over to me. I soon realized that she wanted to “play” with me (read: poke me with the end of a feathered wand), but she was little. I made nice and let her poke me.

To top it all off, a super-awesome college couple arrived just minutes later. They’d seen me online and hurried to Tabby’s Place with the express purpose of visiting me, me, me! They were so amazingly nice, and they were clearly cat people. I didn’t score any lap time with them, but after driving miles and miles to see me, they probably needed to stretch their legs. And the pets were so good, I wasn’t complaining.

I’ve saved the best no-news-is-good-news for last, though. I had an ultrasound this month, and my heart disease hasn’t progressed one bit. Hooray for me! Maybe if I stick with this kinder, gentler Boots, my stress levels will stay down and my heart will stay in good shape. But then I’d miss all the fun of picking on other cats…hmm…I’ll have to think more about my options here.

Thank you, dear friends, for your continued support and love. I hope you, too, can take some quiet time this month with some of your favorite people and soak up some sunshine before the cold weather is here.

Yours,
Boots
