Update for Boots

Hello sponsors of our beloved Boots!

It’s the “last gasp” of warm weather here in New Jersey and everyone – humans and felines – are loving it. The humans are biking and strolling, and the felines – at least at Tabby’s Place – are enjoying the solariums and the sunshine. Except for our Boots, that is. While he enjoys the privilege of being a lobby cat, that means he doesn’t have access to the great outdoor screened-in spaces. But I’d bet, if you asked him whether he’d trade a view of the outside for his comfy chair of privilege, a rub and an “awww” from everyone who walks in the door, many tickles and pets, and “how handsome!”s…well, I think he’d stay right where he is.

And actually, in the last few weeks Boots has been in an even more special spot, hanging out on the desk of our Executive Director, Jonathan Rosenberg.

I was giving a tour of Tabby’s Place during our Catoberfest celebration and open house on October 1st, and I was surprised at how many visitors asked, “where’s Boots?” Obviously we had to clear out the lobby and secure the kitties (they stayed in the hospital that day), but I really didn’t know he had so many admiring members of the general public.

So, Boots is back to the lobby now, and back to his normal, handsome, mostly-sweet-but-sometimes-nudge-y self. His frightening bout with pancreatitis is in the past, and he’s made a full recovery. Boots’ lobby world has seen has seen some big changes of late – not only did his little buddy Ivan go home in late August, but sadly, in September we had to let longtime lobby residents Polly and Mr. Grey go.

The lobby certainly feels different – a whole different group dynamic. Maybe that’s part of why Boots has taken to spending time on Jonathan’s desk.

In any event, life is good for our handsome guy. He seems very content and peaceful thanks to the care he receives because of your generosity. Thank you and have a great month!
