Update for Boots

Hello generous sponsors of our boy, Boots!

As I write this we’re enjoying a lovely summer heat wave here in New Jersey. That means lazy, hazy days, and our boy is the poster child for lazy! I don’t want to think that his heart disease is making him tired (how can you tell if a cat is tired?) but that he’s just a very mellow fellow. At least when I’ve seen him – I’m told, however, that I haven’t seen Boots the Terrible.

When I arrived to interview him for this report last night, once again all was quiet in the lobby – it was after hours, after dinner, after visitors. Except for this little, skinny guy, Ivan , running around and annoying everyone feline. Lots of hissing, lots of dirty looks from the kitties he was pestering! Oh boy – this isn’t good, I thought.

You may recall that I reported on a budding friendship between Ivan and Boots last month. Well, I’m told that somehow little Ivan has touched Boots’ heart and not his temper. Ivan is an unlikely best friend for Boots, really. The kitten is relentless, batting at and leaping upon Boots at every chance he gets. You’d think this would bring out our bad boy’s worst behavior…but Boots is exceptionally gentle with Ivan. I’m told the latest lobby entertainment is to watch these two black-and-white boys playing, gently and gleefully. Now, how nice is that?! Lest you fear Boots is losing his edge, he hasn’t gone all soft on us: Halie is still regularly the object of his aggression.

Fortunately, Boots’ health is as good as his budding friendship with Ivan, with no medical news to report. And again we thank you for your support of his care.
