Update for Boots

Warmest greetings of the season from Boots and all his friends!

Handsome Boots is having a medically mellow month…with one embarrassing exception. We noted that Boots had a strange bald spot and scratch on his neck. Tabby’s Place’s vet, Dr. Collins, issued the following medical advice to Boots (and I quote her directly): “Stop beating up people and they’ll stop beating you up.”

Boots’ scuffles with his lobby neighbors have even caught the attention of Edward through the glass in Suite FIV, and it’s remarkable how agitated and upset Edward becomes at the sight of Boots’ bad behavior. We are continuing to keep a close eye on Boots and to give him “time outs” as necessary.

On a lighter note, Boots seems to be a big fan of the fiber optic Christmas tree that arrived in the lobby this month, and is often seen sitting – adorably – beside it.

For once, Boots wasn’t in jail when I arrived to visit recently. He was nestled among ALL the lobby toys on his favorite sofa. How did he commandeer all the cat toys in lobby? No one was sure if he had corralled them all himself, or if some adoring fan had heaped them on him, but it was comical to see. He soon roused himself to accept some petting and lovies from this fan.

Jonathan Rosenberg, Tabby’s Place’s Founder and Executive Director, told me that Boots’ behavior has been “better” this month. Another staff member said, “When Boots is good, he’s very good, but when he’s bad, he’s B-A-A-A-D.” So, will Santa bring Boots more toys or just coal this year? What do you think?

Meanwhile, I am looking forward to an annual Tabby’s Place volunteer activity: Wrap for Cats. We take turns at a nearby mall in Princeton, NJ, wrapping gifts in exchange for donations from shoppers. In addition to the donations, it’s a great chance to spread the word to the public about our favorite cat sanctuary and all the good they do here.

As the holidays descend on us, we wish you a joyous season and a happy, healthy new year from everyone at Tabbys Place.

Love and purrs from feisty Boots, too.
