Update for Beatrice

When we last updated everyone on Beatrice, the Special Needs cats were still going through treatment for ringworm, and Bea was starting to get a little friendlier from all of the handling she was receiving. She and her suitemates were quite the troopers, and we are proud to say that we are no longer dealing with ringworm in the Special Needs Suite! The cats are probably more excited than we are 🙂

A few weeks back, one of the volunteers noticed, when moving Beatrice, that her belly was rigid. So we took sweet little Beatrice for an ultrasound to check the situation out. We were all relieved to find out that no abnormalities were detected. Bea’s diagnosis: the IBD continues, with the addition of a shaved tummy and a bit of a pudge.
That’s right, our little lady has gotten a little chubby during her stay.

I’ve made an extra effort during my time in the Special Needs Suite each week to sit and talk to Bea, and to pet her just a bit. She always assumes the same posture, curling up in the back of her cubby, but I try to at least get in a little scratch on top of the head.
A few weeks ago I caught Bea in an especially friendly mood, and while petting her head found her leaning in to my hand for more attention. After and few minutes of petting and scratching behind the ears, she was rumbling with purrs. I couldn’t have been more happy!

Our little Bea has come a long way, and I know she’ll come even farther with time and love.
