Update for Beatrice

Hello.
I am Shannon, a volunteer at Tabby’s Place, and I have just become your correspondent for little Bea.
She is such a cutie that I couldn’t turn down the offer to report on her to her kind sponsors.

The cats and the folks at Tabby’s Place have been battling ringworm in the Special Needs Suite since our last update.
Treating the cats requires lots of handling of the furry creatures.
And, although much of the handling is not particularly pleasant to the cats, the simple fact that they are being touched frequently sometimes has a positive impact on the socialization of cats.
I am happy to report that this is the case for our girl Bea.

In the past, when I was assisting in the Sunday morning cleaning rounds, Bea would stay curled up in her cubby and wouldn’t budge an inch, or even peek out to say “hello”.

But, recently we were asked to brush the cats in Bea’s suite when we entered, as their coats needed some attention.
To my surprise, our sweet little Bea was out of her hiding place and seemed to really enjoy being brushed for a tiny while before retreating to her safe place.

This past weekend she remained out of her cubby for almost the entire time we cleaned and fixed up her suite. It’s been really heartwarming to see her out and about in her surroundings. Our little Bea seems to be slowly coming out of her shell.

I tried to take some photos of Bea that would show up her in a different “pose”.
But, it’s very hard, as she inevtiably assumes the posture you see above, looking timid & afraid.
However, I did manage to get the closeup below, that shows little Bea sticking her tongue out :0(

I really do love all the furry creatures at Tabby’s Place, but little Bea is one of my favorites (Shhh! Don’t tell the other cats!) I know we will continue to see her warm up to the world beyond her cubby.
