Hello, Bacon fans!

Bacon’s normal press agent has taken this month off, so I’m filling in to keep you up to date on what’s going on with our mutual furry friend. I’m a bit new to All Things Bacon, but he was kind enough to give me a few tips and I hope I can do him justice.

We humans don’t really appreciate this, but being a cat is really hard work. Bacon tells me that his schedule as the Tabby’s Place night watchman is absolutely exhausting! While everyone else sleeps and Sally snoozes away in her crate, Bacon is free to roam and keep an eye on everything in Karina’s office. It’s a big responsibility. His neighbor Bucca in the office next door keeps an eye on the Lobby from her window perch, which is a great help since just watching Sally is a full-time job.

Lately, Bacon says his schedule and his medication has been making him extra sleepy. He loves his visitors and the treats they bring, but he’s just so tired he can barely keep up with all the excitement!

So Bacon spoke to the medical staff and they’ve decreased the dosage of his anti-seizure medication. Such a thing has to be done pretty carefully given his seizure condition, but the staff is monitoring him closely and Karina is very attentive. Bacon says he’s feeling more alert and there hasn’t been any increase in seizure activity, so we’re all hoping he can continue on the lower dose!When I spoke to Bacon about all of this, he yawned, then stretched, then asked me who I was and where Lynn was and why I was asking nosy questions. But after a few minutes, he explained in cheerful chirps that he’s feeling pretty good these days and that Karina says he had one seizure this week but it wasn’t that bad. He also told me I shouldn’t be too forward about petting him as we’re not “at that level” yet, so I’d like to formally apologize for that. (Sally agrees I should have known better. I suppose she has a point since she likes to nibble my fingers when I try to pet her.)
