Update for Bacon

Dear Sponsors,

I hope you’ve been keeping warm and are doing well. I’ve been doing very well. There has been no repeat of my embarrassing problem with urination, and I haven’t had any serious seizures lately. All of that’s very good news! I bet the staff is happy to hear that; I know that I am!

Life continues to be very peaceful for me in Karina’s office. I say “Karina’s” office, but, at times, I think it’s really Sally‘s. When Karina is gone, Sally definitely takes charge! A volunteer stopped in one day and sat down in Karina’s chair to write a note for Karina. Sally walked over and practically stood on the note as the volunteer wrote it!

Lynn comes every Friday as part of the Enrichment Program to play with Sally. I feel sorry for her— for Lynn, not Sally. There are some days when Sally simply refuses to play. No matter what Lynn does, Sally ignores her! One day, Sally jumped off the desk and walked to the door, putting her back to Lynn and the toy. I thought the toy was interesting! I watched it as a little mouse ran in and out and up and down on the base. I would have attacked the mouse, but Sally ignored it.
When Sally ignores her, Lynn talks to me and gives me treats. She always tells me what a good cat I am and how much she loves me. I never hear her tell Sally that!

As I’ve mentioned before, one of the reasons I like living in this office is because it’s usually quiet and peaceful. Recently one afternoon, that peace was rudely interrupted by Sally’s incessant howling! She was so loud that she could be heard in the lobby. I know that because Lynn and another volunteer came to see what was wrong. Nothing was wrong except Sally was calling for Karina. I guess it pays to complain because the volunteer came into the room and spent time with Sally. She even sat down on the floor and let Sally climb onto her lap. Where is it written that Sally must be pampered?

I like it when Karina leaves the door open. You’d be surprised at the number of staff members and volunteers I see every day. It’s nice to know how many people care for us. At times, someone will peek in and say, “Hello.” I like that!

On Saturday, November 18th, Tabby’s Place is hosting a very special event: “Thanksgiving with the Cats.” Everyone is invited to join us from 12-4 PM for refreshments, tours, and visits with cats. Donations of non-clumping litter, canned food, toys, and treats would be appreciated.
According to the flyer, visitors can even help feed us a “very special Thanksgiving meal.” I hope visitors remember about Sally and me. There are times I think that the cats in this hall are forgotten about. The 18th should be a very special day! It would be even more special if you could join us!

As Thanksgiving approaches, I am reminded how very lucky I am. I am so thankful that I am here at Tabby’s Place. I have been given the best medical care and am doing so much better because of it. I think that Tabby’s Place is the best place in the world for cats, especially cats like me. So many of us here have special needs and might be forgotten about at other places. At Tabby’s Place, we are all well-cared for, receive lots of attention, and are truly loved! I want to thank you, dear sponsor, for making it possible for me to be here. I hope you have a joyous Thanksgiving and that you are blessed with good health and happiness.

Love,
Bacon
