Hello, Dear Sponsors!
I have put “pen to paw” this month to write my own update, with some assistance from my correspondent, Kim. I asked her if I could share my own thoughts this time around; she said “sure!”
So here we go!
First, I must say that medically, I remain status quo. That’s good news! However, my sensitive gastrointestinal tract is agitated by anything that contains seafood. So I should really only be offered a menu of poultry or beef.
A macho cat like me cannot reveal his secrets, but let me say that the well intentioned person who brings me treats that contain seafood is NOT doing me any favors. I am unable to resist that culinary delight. I am also unable to give away my secret friend.
But, for the sake of the staff members who share my suite, it would be appreciated if those seafood treats were no longer secretly snuck in to me. The flatulence is uncomfortable for all concerned. Let’s keep it to poultry or beef, kind volunteers!
My guest correspondent, Kim, has been trying to get me out and about in the stroller lately, but it has rained each time she has an outdoor journey planned. She was able to get to Tabby’s Place in the early afternoon sunshine one day this past week. I saw her coming from my suite door long before she saw me! I sat up on my haunches and swayed side-to-side as I watched for her to round the bend with the stroller. She told me she was trying to figure out what animal I reminded her of, with that side-to-side sway. Kim finally realized that I looked like a little monkey! Side-to-side I will sway, waiting for her to get to the door of my suite and settle me into the stroller.
Off we go!
I ride upright with pride and take in everything around me as we go to the great outdoors.
I was happy to be outside that day and enjoyed listening to the birds in the trees above us. I am still waiting to see butterflies (it’s a bit too early), but we did sit through a sprinkle of apple blossoms that were too fragile to survive the May breezes. Kim said it was a sign of good luck, and of a lovely season to come.
Kim says that our choice of peaceful piano music is good for the soul. She plays it for me from her cell phone. You will see me relaxed in the stroller in the photos she has sent along. However, rest assured that while I may doze, I miss nothing that goes on outside while we are out there together. Another volunteer said this week that nothing goes off my “stroller radar.” This is true!
I am never happy to see those afternoons end. In fact, I am so unhappy that I struggle to alight from the stroller. I am so bad it is recommended that staff help me at the end of my rides.
I do love them so….
I remain grateful for your generous kindness. Inside or outside, I remain a proud and popular feline, ready to meet and greet whenever called upon. So if a nice spring day finds you in the mood for a car ride, give us a call here at Tabby’s Place, and let us know you are coming to visit me. You are welcome!
Love,
Anka
