Dear Friends,

I hope you’re enjoying the uptick in bird songs in this early part of spring. With several nice weather days, we’ve had the privilege of going out for more stroller rides. Seeing and hearing all the bird activity brings me immense joy.
I heard a rumor that on a few occasions, while I was enjoying a daytime nap, other kitties insisted on being first to go on a stroller ride. If this is true, I find it completely unacceptable. I must convene with my stroller peeps and remind them that I must always take the first stroller ride of the day.
We’ve had a busy month at Tabby’s Place. Here are a few highlights:
- Tabby’s Place opened Perry’s Pantry – a free community pet food and supply pantry. This pantry was established in honor of a beautiful volunteer who passed away and is named after her beloved cat, Perry. The family joined us for a dedication ceremony earlier this month. This sweet legacy will provide much-needed support to community members and their cats. I’ve always been proud to be a Tabby’s Place cat, but this is next level.

The new lobby furniture that all the cats are raving about - We did some redecorating! Some of our older floors were replaced, and the ancient lobby furniture was replaced with furniture that is both fun and functional. It is no small task to coordinate lots of cats, staff, and volunteers, and the Tabby’s Place team did a great job managing the chaos and keeping track of where each of the cats was temporarily housed. The lobby cats are excited by the new setup. A few of the lobby cats still gather by the doors to Quinn’s Corner, and it’s all they seem to talk about these days.
- Our Cherish the Kittens campaign is in full swing! Donations will be doubled through May 15. Spring is here, and we’ve got our first babies and pregnant moms. This means sleepless nights for our incredible foster families. Kittens are so fragile and require extensive care and attention. While I’m not a fan of other cats, I must admit that the little ones are super adorable.

Several staff members have noted that I’m more agitated and aggressive during bladder expression. This typically happened only when I wasn’t feeling well, but it’s become more frequent. The vet team adjusted one of my medications, and it has helped, though it seems my bladder has become more difficult to express. I’m grateful that the kind staff is doing everything they can to keep me comfortable and that they do not take my aggressiveness personally.

Other than bathroom time, my days are splendidly filled with many naps, stroller rides, treats, and lots of love from my roommates, staff, and visitors.
I am forever grateful for your continued love and friendship. You bring sunshine to my world every single day.
All my love,
Anka
