Update for Anka

Dear Friends,

I took over the ‘King of Stroll’ title from Cotton now that he went to his forever home. I haven’t yet mastered Cotton’s “I’m going to give you stink eye and try to guilt you” stare on days when the weather is too icky to stroll. Give me some time; I’m working on it.

Luckily, we’ve had some good weather days, which means more outdoor strolls for me. I’ve also had the good fortune of enjoying special supervised playtime in my large outdoor pen while volunteers worked on various furniture assembly projects. The outdoor pen is the BEST. At first, I get very excited, then I chase bugs and try to eat them, followed by some grass chewing, and finally, some long naps in the shade with a gentle breeze.

While we’ve had some good weather days, I also experienced my first scary hurricane. They tell me her name was Ida, and she dumped tons of rain on us. Luckily, we kitties were all safe, but a couple of our Tabby’s Place staffers got stranded here overnight. I love when our people spend the night with us.

And I learned something that night:  not only do our big-hearted Tabby’s Place people do kind things for kitties, but they also do kind things for other people, too. A few strangers couldn’t make it home, saw the Tabby’s Place lights on, and came looking for refuge. As it turns out, we accept and care for all kinds of strays here. This fills my heart with joy. And I had fun meeting some new friends. Angela, our Development Director, even wrote a blog about it, which you can find here: Strays

I hope you and your family are safe and dry and have all the support you need to weather the storms.

Lots of love,
Anka
