Update for Alex

I am happy to report that Alex’s skin continues to imrpove, to the point where he no longer has any sores, scabs or other visible signs of a problem.
He has stopped scratching and chewing on his skin and is a much happier boy.

We’re still not sure whether it was the diet or the lime-sulphur dips that made the difference.
But we are so glad that he is feeling better (and we’re all very glad not to have to dip him any longer).

A few weeks ago, one of the cats in the FIV Suite picked up an upper respiratory infection (URI).
It quickly spread to two of the other cats, including Alex.
Because we carefully monitor the cats, especially those with FIV, we caught the problme early and were able to keep it contained.
Of course, Alex did not like getting pilled (he really turns on the whining when you try to pill him).
But, he has responded well to the antibiotics and the URI is quickly disappearing from all three cats.

Next month Alex will be getting a follow-up ultrasound to check on the progress of his heart disease.
Please keep dear Alex in your thoughts for good results.
I will report on the ultrasound in next month’s update.
