Oh, OK: it’s technically not summer for another six days. But around here, we’re all on Adelaide time…and summer has clearly begun in all its glory.
Being a cat, Addy loves sunshine. (You lose your Certificate of Felinity if you don’t love sunshine, and that’s very serious indeed.) But, being Adelaide, she takes this affection to great, glorious heights unscaled by other cats.
Walk out into the FIV+ solarium any given sunny day, and you’ll find a gaggle of good-time guys like Newman, Lester and Buddy basking in the beams. But, sure enough, in the brightest corner of all, you’ll find seven pounds of wriggling, rejoicing calico. Where other cats beach themselves like sun-stricken walruses (I’m looking at you, Wolfie), Addy’s so happy she can hardly keep still. Even without a human admirer — but preferably with one — she’ll wiggle in the warmth, turning every inch of her tiny self to catch the light.
But rivalry is the furthest thing from our sunshine girl’s mind these days. Warm and loved, she’s also thriving on all official measures. In the words of our veterinarian, Adelaide’s recent bloodwork is “amazing;” her renal values have improved; her potassium levels are normalized; and her weight is up.
Miracle? Summer song? All of the above: Adelaide.
I can’t thank you enough for making this possible, dear sponsors. Your generosity gives Addy the health and freedom to focus on the sunshine. You are the sunshine of her life. Have a beautiful month!
