You must see Russell! He’s a member of the Tabby’s Place unofficial “Big Cats Club”; this is one large economy-size feline. He’s also gorgeous; a medium-haired brown tabby with white on all four paws and the cutest little white stripe down his nose. More than one visitor has asked if he’s part Maine Coon, and, while we have no way of proving that, it seems likely.

Our best estimate is that Russell was born around May of 2006. At some point earlier in his life, he was declawed in front, so he must be an indoor-only cat! Russell usually does well around other felines and, in his suite, seems to have buddied up with our Mango.

The shelter that sent us Russell described him as a drama queen (no, really!), and we’ve found that accurate. If there’s an altercation in his suite, even if it doesn’t involve him, he’ll sometimes start to yell, and he can indeed be a bit dramatic. He’s an affectionate boy who enjoys being scratched on his head, ears and chin, but, if you’re doing something he doesn’t enjoy (such as clipping his nails), he can occasionally get a little grouchy. For this reason, he needs to go to a home without small children.
