Ophelia

She’ll never be very big, but what Ophelia lacks in size she makes up for in personality. She’s a super-friendly girl, who often follows us around her suite in hopes that we’ll notice her and give her a gentle tummy rub. Ophelia is entirely black. We estimate she was born at the end of June, 2011.

Ophelia has a condition called Eyelid Agenesis. Simply put, she’s missing the outer portion of her eyelids; they just never developed properly. The fur above her eyes was rubbing on her eyes, causing a lot of discomfort, so we’re in the process of trying to remove it. Like any other form of hair removal, this will require more than one treatment to make sure the fur doesn’t grow back. Because of this, we’re tagging Ophelia as a Special Needs feline—temporarily (once the fur above her eyes is gone, she’ll no longer be Special Needs). Her eyes look a little odd, as well, but as far as we can determine she’s has had no loss of vision.

This is a sweet little lady with a lot of love to give the right home, and we’re confident she’ll soon be adopted.
