Laertes is a large, all-black male. He is timid with people initially, but he’s very gentle, and, once he gets to know you, quite loving. Our best guess is that he was born around August of 2010.

Laertes has eyelidogenesis, a condition in which the top portion of the eyelid didn’t form. The hair on top of his eyes was rubbing on the eyes themselves, causing Laertes to squint and be uncomfortable and have runny eyes. He has been treated with cryogenesis, a freezing process., to remove the offending hairs. Results to date have been very good, although further treatments of this type may be needed (we’re not sure if the hairs are going to grow back, so for the present it’s a “wait and see” situation).
