Gretta

Gretta is a tortoiseshell, a charming combination of orange, brown, and black. Our Gretta has a distinctive black nose, and a large patch of orangey-brown on the back of her head. True to her coloring, she has pretty amber eyes. Tortoiseshells can be temperamental animals, but in general Gretta has a winning personality. Once in a while she’ll show a faint echo of “tortie temper”, but most of the time she’s too busy wanting attention. She loves to rub her head on an outstretched hand, and a good scratch on the side of the neck is always much appreciated. Our tortie is OK around other felines; she doesn’t often “buddy up” to them, but she doesn’t object to their presence, either.

Gretta has very few teeth. This is usually surprising in a cat of about 10 years of age (as of 2/2010), but she has stomatitis, a condition in which her gums were allergic to the plaque on her teeth, so extraction of the teeth was a medical necessity. The inside of Gretta’s mouth is now much improved as a result and our hope is that the extraction of her teeth will cure her condition. So far she is doing beautifully, but only time will tell if her improvement is permanent.

We know that our Gretta can be a wonderful companion animal. Won’t you come in to meet her and see if she’s a good match for you?
