Florence

Florence isn’t exactly a Dilute Calico. She’s really more like a Dilute Torbie, but this computer system won’t let me list that description. She has a stripy grey tail, white hind socks, and many patches of color on her back and sides. Her face is half buff and half light grey, and she has pale green eyes. We estimate she was born in early August (2012).

This is one feisty young lady! She plays very rough and is exceptionally energetic. She should go to a home without small children, though in general she’s OK with other cats. Florence is hyperactive and tends to become overstimulated easily, and she can bite when this occurs. She requires an experienced adopter, someone who can read feline body language and will know when she’s overly wound up and needs to be left alone for a bit.

Florence has VSD, a congenital defect. In a nutshell, she has a hole in her heart. That can be quite serious, but some kittens actually outgrow this condition. If Florence does so, there’s every reason to expect she’ll live a normal life. If she does not outgrow it, her lifespan will be shortened. We will perform an echocardiogram when she is about six months old to determine whether the hole is still present.

We know that a young’un like Florence isn’t for everybody. We hope that her six month check-up will show us a healthy girl. But we also know that, either way, she deserves someone to love her just the way she is. Can you be that special person?
