At Tabby’s Place, we generally don’t know much about the history of each cat, but even by that standard, Cletus stands out as a man cat of mystery.
This classically handsome tabby arrived from a shelter with no back story available. Still, it is possible to deduce some events in his life. He’s front declawed, so at some point he did have a home. However, he’s also FIV-+, indicating he had to fend for himself outside, which couldn’t have been easy for a cat with no front claws. He’s certainly happy, though, to be living the good, spoiled indoor life and has left his outdoor days behind.
Now, while some temporarily caged new arrivals may be found huddling in a corner or even in their cat box, Cletus displays more confidence, stretching to his full length and relaxing. He is generally comfortable with humans, and when given the opportunity, he welcomes friendly visitors with deep, abundant purring. That’s not to say he can’t become overstimulated, but Cletus is basically an easy-going guy who welcomes affection from humans and gets along well with children and other cats, too. Cletus doesn’t seem to mind the other cats as long as they’re not too nosy about his business, but he’s the kind of guy who’d rather hang with humans than fellow felines.
While his FIV-positive status will require you to make sure he’s up to date on vaccinations and veterinary check-ups, he has everything it takes to become a cherished member of someone’s household.
