FIV+, Kidney Disease

Humphrey isn’t there yet, but we believe he’s close. Living inside in the presence of humans has been challenging for him, but any visitor can see he’s growing, learning to accept love and maybe even enjoy it. If you walk in to the FIV+ suite where he lives, he doesn’t hurry away or hide from you. If he’s on the ramp inside the suite, he stays up there and observes, curious but just a tad cautious. He may not saunter on up to you with all the confidence and swagger of John Wayne, but he’s got plenty of spunk underneath a shy exterior.

Humphrey arrived at Tabby’s Place in December 2020 after a period of homelessness, bearing some of the marks of living outdoors. Due to an old injury, he is blind in one eye, but can see and navigate just fine with monocular vision! As an older gentlemen, he doesn’t bounce around like a kitten, and unlike a kitten, there’s no… well, he’s a cat, so you can’t say there’s no mystery, but there’s less mystery about who he is. He could just use someone patient and accepting who will let him come out of his shell on his terms.

Although Humphrey has been on the shy side since his arrival, he has recently begun to open himself up to our love. Although he’s not likely to come and beg for your attention, he’s certainly not opposed to it either. Offer him some gentle pets and scritches and he will slowly melt into your hands.

In terms of other cats, Humphrey doesn’t mind the company. He can be a bit nervous around new company at first, but he’s found good friends to hang out with in his current suite. Currently, he enjoys hanging out in the solarium with his ‘bros. Humphrey would be a great addition to a multi-cat household with other laidback cats.

Humphrey is looking for a home on the quieter side. Could that be with you? Consider filling out an adoption application today.
