If you walk anywhere near our medical suite, you’ll probably hear Luna before you even see her. Luna implores every passer by to stop by with her desperate mews for attention with her paws earnestly placed against the glass door.
Luna is not to be ignored. No matter what you are doing – scooping litter boxes, typing on the computer, or even trying to prep for a spay or neuter – Luna must be a part of the action. If you aren’t quick enough to pick her up, she’ll jump right in the middle of whatever you’re doing. She’s even been known to steal the heated beds right out from under recovering patients in our hospital suite, earning her the nickname “Luna the Lunatic.”
Luna doesn’t mean to get in everyone’s way. Rather, she just loves everyone she meets and wants to be their best buddy. After everything that she has been through, however, we’ll forgive her constant antics.
This little lovebug came to us from another shelter. She was in terrible shape when she first arrived due to awful allergies that no vet could figure out. Her face was red, raw, and nearly hairless and she was clearly in pain. We did our absolute best to help her. Through a combination of a cocktail of medications and a special hypoallergenic diet, her condition is improving and we are beginning to learn how to manage her allergies.
As Luna’s allergies cannot be 100% cured, she is one of our beloved special needs cats. With her current regimen, she is doing well. Her skin has cleared and all her fur has grown back, revealing her beautiful dilute tortoiseshell patterns. If you didn’t know her history, you wouldn’t even be able to tell that her skin had ever been so damaged. She will need to continue to be on medication and a special diet for the rest of her life and may have occasional flare-ups. Luna hopes, however, that you will see past her health issues and love her as much as she loves everyone.
