Fred is easily our largest cat, weighing in at over 21 pounds! It’s not all extra weight, though; he’s simply a very big boy. Fred and our Flossie lived together in a home as the cherished companions of their human owner. But when their owner passed away, both cats came to us via our Guardian Angel Program.
You can understand how caring for a big cat might be a real rodeo, especially if the cat was frightened and placed in unfamiliar circumstances. But from the beginning, Fred has been gentle and sweet. Speak to him, and he’ll often start “kneading” with his front paws. Everyone who has interacted with him comes away with the same opinion, that he’s exceptionally laid-back and tolerant. Fred is entirely black except for a small white spot on his chest, and right now he has one white whisker. He was born on 20 July, 2007.
Fred has heart disease, so he’s one of our Special Needs crew. At this writing (the end of March, 2018), he does not require medication for this, but it is possible that he will need meds for it in the future. Note that Fred and Flossie do NOT need to be adopted together, though we’d like any potential adopter to think about doing that.

Most shelters wouldn’t even be able to think about keeping Fred around for any length of time, but, as with many of our cats, he’s a great example of the Tabby’s Place mission. We know there aren’t a lot of people who would consider adopting such a feline, but all that’s necessary is one—just that one individual who can take Fred home and love him as he is.
