The mission of Tabby's Place is to “serve as a refuge of last resort for cats.” As such, we focus on accepting cats from hopeless situations.

A cat scheduled for euthanasia at a shelter is in an inarguably hopeless situation. For this reason, the vast majority of cats at Tabby's Place come from shelters that, of necessity, must euthanize some cats.

We take cats from the public rarely and only through one of two programs:

  1. The Guardian Angel Program allows people to plan in advance for the care of their cats in the event of their own death or disability.
  2. The Exceptional Circumstances Program allows, under specific circumstances, Tabby's Place to immediately accept a cat from a member of the public.
