Happy November, Team Moo Moo!
Fall leaves have mostly fallen. Days are shorter. Blankets feel cozier. Thanksgiving is almost here! It’s the perfect time to reflect on what I’m thankful for. You might be thinking it’s treats. You wouldn’t be entirely wrong. Everyone here is thankful for treats. But I’m trying to look deeper and reflect on what I’m truly thankful for. Except now I can’t stop thinking about treats. More about that later.
Let me begin by saying that, first and foremost, I’m thankful that after losing the only home I knew, I was blessed with a home at Tabby’s Place. Things didn’t look good for me. I still had so much love to give, but who would give a home to an older girl with health problems? My situation seemed hopeless, but Tabby’s Place exists to help the hopeless.
I was very sad in the beginning, and worried about fitting in. At first, my suite situation didn’t work out. Certain cats (I won’t name names) made me feel stressed, and I was having asthma attacks. I was coughing and coughing! The staff noticed and put me on medication which helped a lot. Whew—I’m grateful for that! Asthma is scary. Thanks to your help, dear sponsor, I’m continuing to feel better.
I’m really, really thankful that they moved me to the lobby. At first, I had the same apprehension about fitting in, because now I am living with some “cool” cats. Hips is, in a word, hip. He’s young, bold, and very popular. Then there’s the “it couple,” Prescott and Trent. It’s like witnessing the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce romance every day. But wait! Is there competition from Hips for Prescott’s attention? Hmmmm.
“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lobby.” Olive pretty much dominates door greetings. She’s very outgoing. Grecca is like an opera singer and is UNBELIEVABLY LOUD. It’s like she has a microphone in her throat. It took some getting used to. I would get startled sometimes! She’s nice to me, though. Actually…all the lobby cats have been pretty welcoming. I feel happy here.
I’m also thankful that I have a correspondent now! Her name is Nancy. She really likes me. She gives me pets and says nice things to me. Without her, I wouldn’t be able to write to you. I can’t hold a pen, and keyboards just aren’t designed for paws. Thank you would look something like tyghkjaesnhjmk yuh;lukiu. Spellcheck would be useless.

I’m kind of thankful Halloween is over. You would think that any holiday involving treats would be one of the best days of the year. It was really fun, but I was concerned when one of the nice people came in with a bag of costumes. There was a good chance she would dress me up as a hot dog. That’s so not me. Also, correspondent Nancy seems to enjoy “dressing up” photos of me. A cow mask? I know my name is Moo Moo… but really? It’s not very dignified. It’s a good thing I like her.
There’s another reason I’m thankful October is behind us… I’m unhappy to tell you that, except on Halloween, October was a very bad month for treats. Everyone stopped giving them to us! Let me tell you, few things are more “horrible” than not getting treats. At first, we thought the staff was mad at us because Hips broke into the treats cabinet and ripped open a bunch of bags. They took them ALL away after that.
But that wasn’t it. What were we thinking? The staff never gets mad at us for anything. They love us unconditionally.
So, what on earth was responsible for this? It was worse than any of us imagined. Shocktober had come to the Tabby’s Place lobby. Forget Saw, Halloween, and Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes. We had starring roles in the horror film DIET. I overheard staff members saying that we were becoming chubby. So, they put us on a lower-calorie diet to keep us healthy. Oh, the humanity. What next…treadmills? We all hope this is temporary.
I was a little shocked by the break-in. I want to let you know that I did NOT participate. I’m innocent of any wrongdoing and I remain solidly on the NICE list.
We had one very exciting day this month. Some nice people brought in a bunch of boxes for us. A new box to explore is ALWAYS a good thing. Then we saw that there were fall leaves in them! We couldn’t believe it! We sat in them, sniffed them, dug through them, played with them, and I’m pretty sure Olive might have eaten one of them. We were all thankful for that day!
Election Day came and went at Tabby’s Place with no surprises. Rori, our sitting president, was up for re-election. She lives in the Community Room and loves to sit on anything and everything. We’re all pretty great at sitting, but honestly, Rori is tops at it. She even has her own Facebook series called “Rori Sits,” where she writes reviews about the things she sits on. Even though some among us are a little jealous of her fame, all of us recognize her expertise and experience. She ran uncontested.

Last but certainly not least, I’m sincerely thankful for you, dear sponsor, and your generosity. The medications and healthy eating are keeping me feeling well. I love you for caring about me, and I appreciate you every day.
I wish you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you eat lots of turkey and treats, because in my feline opinion…… turkey + treats = happiness!
Love, Moo Moo
