Update for Bacon

These smell good!

Dear Sponsors of Bacon,

Things have been rolling along. I can’t ask for anything better. Bacon, who has a mixed reputation when it comes to interpersonal interactions, has turned over a glorious new leaf.

For the past several weeks, he has been an excellent sport. When I drop in to visit him, he is curious and affectionate, two words I never thought I would use in the same sentence to describe this furry boy. He’s always been curious—eager to leave his house and wander around, sniffing everything (including sneakers) …

Doesn’t that feel good?

… but it’s the affectionate part that has taken me by surprise.

Well, let me be fair. It’s taken me a long time to be able to visit, extend my hand, let him sniff me, and be accepted . . .

I can pat him and scratch the underside of his neck and all is well. I don’t have to worry about doing something that will shake him up. That makes me feel so good.

Sure, once in a while he’ll meow. The other day I stopped by to visit. He hadn’t been let out of his house, so I did the unzipping. When I had to leave and begin my shift, I cleverly lured him back into his house. I didn’t know who else needed to come in and do some cleanup.

“What’s this? You tricked me,” he meowed.

I felt bad. He was right. But rules are rules. I unzipped him and gave him a few quick pets under the chin. “I’ll be back to visit real soon,” I promised.

Is everything okay now?

Bacon had a few seizures this month, but again, all in all, the number was far fewer than it used to be.

As always we thank you from the bottom of our furry hearts for your continued generosity. Tabby’s Place has been rescuing cats for twenty-one years. That is, believe it or not, approximately 4,500 cats. October is our anniversary month so it’s time to celebrate. Bacon is overjoyed to be part of this feline family. I know you are too!

Thank you for all your generosity to our boy!

Your correspondent,
Kate
