“Growing up as the only child of unhappy parents, I learned the meaning of love from my cat Jingles, who was by my side from kindergarten to high school graduation. Two of my cats came with me to France when I moved to do research and one inspired awe in French children and adults by walking on a leash in the Jardin des Tuileries. Cats have become the center of my life in the past 33 years.
