Hips’ Happenings #12
Happy December, Dear Sponsors and Tabby’s Place Fans!

Welcome to my latest update. And it is full of really good stuff to read, so grab some hot cocoa or coffee or tea and nestle into a comfy place while I spin all the wonderful tales for you.
First, Thanksgiving with the Cats was a great success. We hadn’t done this in several years because of COVID. I, along with Grecca, welcomed lots of folks—over 150—to spend time with us. And we got many, many donations, all of which I personally checked out, to be sure they are all okay for us kitties here at the sanctuary. I also helped get our visitors to sign the guest book!
We have this new plaything in the lobby. It’s some kind of mat with holes in it and we can go under, in and out. The staff calls it a ‘ripple rug.’ Prescott, Valerie, and I had a wonderful time playing and hiding from each other. But then something beautiful happened… Valerie got adopted into a loving home. And, guess what? Yep, you guessed it—Larry the Lobster went home with her. We miss our dear friend a lot, but we are so happy she found her furever home.
But back to the fun and games here at Tabby’s Place. Now that Valerie is not in the lobby anymore, it is up to me, Olive, Antin, and Grecca to be our security team. Prescott has pooped out and prefers to sleep. Olive is good at the front door, while Antin finds his nice soft blankie bed and curls up to nap. He does keep one eye open for pets and treats. And our lobby Queen, Grecca, is always ready to snack while she keeps an eye out from on top of my crate.

My friend, Mary Anne, came to visit me and she couldn’t find me. But all of a sudden she saw me in lockdown in my crate. She asked one of the volunteers why I was crated, and the bad news came out. I have been a naughty boy at times. You know I love my BFF and lobby mate, Prescott, to the moon and back. But I have been swatting her and chasing and hitting some of the other cats. Then I get put into “time out” so I can calm down. I don’t know why I am being such a bad little fellow lately, especially with Christmas and Santa coming with gifts for us. So I will try to be better.
Eventually one of the volunteers opened my crate door and I went over to Mary Anne for a while to get some pets. But I didn’t stay long with her as that cat tower by the front desk was calling my name. Then I didn’t stay long there, either, as the cat bed ON the desk was calling my name. By the time Mary Anne left, the lobby was quiet, I was settled in on the desk bed and Prescott, Antin, and Olive were sound asleep as well (we kitties sleep about 15 hours a day ).

I want to wish all of you, my dear Sponsors, a beautiful, happy, and healthy holiday season. There are so many holidays this month: Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanza! So if you celebrate one of these, enjoy each minute. And if you don’t, just enjoy each day to its fullest and try to visit us here at Tabby’s Place.
If you are too far away to visit, keep on reading and enjoying all the posts on our Facebook page and also on the blog on the Tabby’s Place website. This will keep you up-to-date on all things Tabby’s Place.
Other than being a bad baby once in a while, I am happy and healthy here at the sanctuary. And that is my wish for all of you.
Love and kitty kisses,
Hips
(With help from your correspondent, Mary Anne)
