Dear Sponsors of Tux,
I know that many of you may be new friends to Tux since Scoots found herself a forever home. For those of you that do not yet know Tux, I encourage you to take a moment and visit his sponsor page to learn about his back story.
Tux has been in good health this month. After the flare of his stomatitis (inflammation of the mouth) he has been subject to weekly check-ins with the vet team. While he continues to have some unresolved inflammation, it does not seem to be causing discomfort at this point. He will remain on his current medications to keep things from getting worse.

Exciting news for Tux… he longer has to be crated overnight. We made some alterations to the distribution of kibble in the Community Room to allow both Tux and Shadow to remain out overnight and still have access to their special diet. Tux loves the new arrangement. He can now spend even longer hours on Ginny’s desk or in an office chair. He and Puzzle can gossip all night long side by side.
Just this morning Tux paid a brief visit to my desk. He didn’t want to sit, he simply wanted to scope out the scene. He also participated in the staff portion of our morning meeting. Here too, he just wanted to see what was going on and take the opportunity to make his presence known to all of us in the room.
Tux truly is one of the most laid back cats I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. I have never seen him hiss. Does he even know how? I really don’t know. This is one of the many reasons that Tux does so well as an Aged to Purrfection cat–nothing phases him or stresses him out. He has made several nursing home visits this month and continues to bring joy to the residents. A new facility has joined the rotation, which means even more outings for dear Tux.

The fact that Tux is so laid back, makes it difficult to capture his personality in photos–he’s usually sleeping or on the move. So while the photos I share may not capture the spunky side of Tux, I hope this little story does. When we removed the extra overnight crates from the Community Room, one remained—the one Tux used to sleep in at night. Claire is the newest resident to the Community Room and she was just released into the room. Claire has some vision impairment and was an outdoor cat. She is still very cautious. So while her crate door is open, she has chosen to stay inside. Tux noticed that the door to this crate was once again open AND there was a bowl of tasty kibble inside. He climbed right in and was practically stepping on Claire to eat the food (you know what they always say about the kibble being tastier on the other side of the crate). Ginny had to scoop him up and move him on his way. Meanwhile, Claire didn’t budge or make a peep. Tux simply sauntered to the next watering hole. It’s the sort of thing that a photo just can’t capture.
