I hope this month finds you all kinds of cozy and cheery and bundled up in blessings.
You’ve been a blessing of the first order when it comes to our community cats this month. Your generosity has been part of their stories from soup to nuts (um, no pun intended).
Let’s start where we left off last month: righteous, ridiculously handsome Raffi. As you’ll recall, this scandalously adorable Siamese mix loped into one of our feral colonies one day. Thanks to a wildlife camera, we spotted him; thanks to our stalwart team, we trapped him; and thanks to Raffi’s exuberant affection, we immediately realized this boy was meant for a forever (indoor) home.
Although Raffi was unneutered when we found him, his friendliness made us think that perhaps he’d belonged to someone. We did our due diligence in publicizing his photo, seeking his phantom family every way we knew how. Alas, no family was forthcoming. And so, we made Raffi available for adoption.
And, about eleven seconds later, one of our volunteers adopted him.
As you can see in these photos, Raffi is loving life in his forever home (and somehow getting even more adorable, which means he’s breaking all legal limits of cuteness). You made this possible for him, and the rest of his well-loved life will be a song of gratitude to you.
Singing your song in a different key are another pair of feral fellows. I use the word “feral” with all intention here, as these boys are profoundly uninterested in our friendship (to put it gently).
They are, however, extremely fortunate that we’re determined to be their friends. Both Mr. Grey Fluffy and Socks got themselves into terrible trouble this month. Each of these sturdy boys (both alumni of our TNR program) injured his paws somehow. Our vet team’s best guess is that Mr. G.F. scraped his paw pad scrambling up a tree. Socks’ injury is both more severe and more mysterious. It’s possible he punctured his foot on some sort of thorn or object (like a sharp piece of fencing). Frankly, we can’t know.
What we do know is that, without veterinary care, these boys would be enduring unending agony — and worse. Socks’ ghastly injury was already beginning to get infected by the time he came to us, so it’s a very good thing these boys are getting the treatment they need to get back on their feet.
It’s thanks to you that we can give each cat in our TNR program precisely the care he needs. For some, that’s placement in a forever home. For others, that’s a brief in-patient stay at Tabby’s Place to heal his hurts. Either way, it’s a life of health and joy — a far cry from the lonely wandering of an unknown, unloved stray cat.
Thank you, wonderful sponsors, for choosing to be part of Raffi, Mr. Grey Fluffy, and Socks’ family. As you give thanks for your blessings this month, know that you are a beautiful blessing to the Tabby’s Place cats. We love you!
PS: Yes, we do have photos of Mr. G.F. and Socks’ injuries. No, I am not including them here. Yes, you have reason to be grateful for that. 🙂
