Juanita

Even in a facility filled with wonderful felines, this young lady is a standout! We estimate that Juanita was born early in August of 2012, so she’s scarcely more than a baby. She’s small-to-medium in size, and a mix of brown and grey tabby (mostly brown tabby, except for her grey striped tail), with white on all four paws, as well as on her chest. From the moment she entered Tabby’s Place, Juanita has been nothing but gentle and loving with us—all the more remarkable, considering that she was heavily pregnant when she arrived here and gave birth to three kittens only three or four days after her arrival!

Two of Juanita’s litter, Ignacio and Filiberto, flourished. Most unfortunately, we lost little Ernesto early on. But we see some funny things at Tabby’s Place. The day after we lost Ernesto, little Paquita, aged about four days, came to us. Juanita took in this starving baby immediately, nursing and grooming and caring for her like a good Momcat. Even more amazing was little Alonzo’s appearance. Alonzo came in when he was a couple of weeks old. By that time, Ignacio and Filiberto were already a few weeks old, so we didn’t know if Juanita would accept another, younger kitten. But she did, unhesitatingly. We were delighted, as we know that mother’s milk assures the healthiest start in life for kittens.

As for Juanita herself, aside from being our nominee for Mother of the Year, she, too, is in search of her “forever” home. She has not been spayed quite yet, but we’ll tend to that within a few weeks, once the kittens are weaned and she’s fully recovered from giving birth. We know there’s someone out there who can cherish this warmhearted young lady in the way she deserves; could that be you?
