Update for Tux

Dear Friend of Tux,

No matter where you are settled this winter, Tux hopes that you are staying safe and cozy, knowing that you will always be his dearly loved Valentine!

Even on the coldest days in Ringoes, NJ, Tux excels at warming hearts.

Welcome, Friend!

On Saturday, February 7, Tabby’s Place opened its doors for four special hours of love and friendship during the “Your Feline Valentine” open house. It was bitter cold and windy in the region, and all too easy to remain indoors. But for those that were able to brave the cold, Tux did his best to warm receptive hearts with his loud and comforting purr.

When I arrived that morning, prior to the start of the event, Tux was curled up on Ginny’s desk chair, sound asleep. In an effort to make him more accessible for visitations with friends both new and old, I rolled his chair out from behind the corner desk. He looked perplexed, unsure why I had disturbed his nap. But after a minor adjustment, he turned himself around and settled down, ready to share his heart warming purr with all who entered the community room.

That was at noon.

Two hours later, the sunshine beckoned him back to the warm windowsill where he joined his fellow tuxedo friend, Gulliver. From this somewhat less convenient location, Tux and Gulliver welcomed visitors to basque in shared moments of warmth, love, and good vibrations (in the form of purrs).

Tux & Atari, curled up.

Tux understands that when it is cold outside, it is best to curl up with a good friend in a sunbeam. That’s what the last month was all about for Tux: warmth and friendship.

You may recall a mention of another elderly cat that also calls the community room home. Atari is in her upper teens, the oldest female feline in the room. She’s not a fan of other cats. But Atari is content to share her space with Tux.

On more than one occasion this last month, I found Tux and Atari napping in identical positions. One might call them two old peas in a pod, or perhaps yin and yang?

The near identical positioning made for adorable photos, but what was truly magical was Atari’s contentment with another cat nearby.

Different day, different position.

Of course, you and I understand that Tux isn’t just any cat. Tux is forever the gentleman. Who wouldn’t want to claim him as their dear friend and Valentine?

Like Atari, you know that Tux is the most steadfast of friends who will always be there when your heart needs warming.

Thank you for making Tux your Valentine every day and providing the love, medications, and snacks that he needs (and desires) to stay well.

Your correspondent,
Lisa
