Update for Tux

Dear Friend of Tux,

New chair, new desk, new year. Tux is ready!

As we welcome a new year, Tux hopes that you know how much your friendship means to him. Tux and I are optimistic and excited for what the year holds, and that is in large part because we know Tux has your love on his side!

Tux has made a single, simple resolution for this year:  he plans to focus on friendship.

Gulliver and Tux soak up the sunshine.

Friendship comes in many forms for Tux.

Tux knows he is loved by his Tabby’s Place family of human friends because gentle pets, soft beds, and tasty meals arrive every day without fail.

Tux knows that your friendship keeps him pampered, protected, and adored, even if he doesn’t get to gaze into your loving eyes each month.

Feline friendships can follow different forms as well.

There are feline friends that gather for meal times and respect one another’s food trays. There are friends that love to chase and wrestle with one another, but then curl up for a solitary nap. There are friends that tolerate the proximity of one another but prefer to be the center of attention.

Tux is most fond of the feline friendships that fall into the cozy companionship category. In Tux’s humble opinion, feline friends that share a warm bed are the very best sort of friends to have. Gulliver and Tux have been cozy companions for many years. These two tuxedoed boys know how to seek out sunbeams and soft blankets.

Jelly finds it easier to relax when Tux is nearby.

Jelly is a newer cozy companion to Tux. While Jelly is still learning to trust humans and is unable to lose himself in a sunbeam when people are near, he has found a warm, welcoming, and cozy friend in “Uncle” Tux.

Danny was quick to form a friendship with Tux and equally quick to form a forever bond with a volunteer who took him home. The two boys loved to help with administrative desk work and would sit side by side to oversee the daily routine.

Even cats like Atari, that prefer to be left alone, will sometimes be spotted napping next to Tux. [I wish I had photos to document these encounters, but I have witnessed this with my own eyes.]

With a focus on friendship, Tux hopes that you can stop by to visit and celebrate your friendship on February 7 from noon to 4 pm. On that day, we celebrate our Feline Valentines, and that first hour is reserved just for you, dear sponsor!

Tux says, “I don’t sleep all the time.”

Tux understands that you may not be able to travel for a personal visit, but he wants you to know that he is grateful to be your feline valentine and that you will always have a friend in him!

We wish you a cozy month with plenty of warm sunbeams and companionship.

Your Correspondent,

Lisa

P.S. In response to overhearing a fellow staff member say that they never see Tux in motion, I felt it necessary to share this photo. Tux almost always moves quickly when he is in motion, so it’s not often we catch him mid-exploration.

P.S.S.: The cats received a special December gift that they’re excited to share with you: NBC featured Tabby’s Place on Philly Live! Click here to see some of your favorite felines enjoying their moment of fame. Thank you for helping to make this possible!
