Dear Friend of Tux,
Time flies when you’re having fun and spending time with those you love. I guess that’s why I was so surprised when a volunteer asked me to confirm that Tux was twenty-two years old.
Can you believe it?
Tux attributes his continued health and stamina to the love that you and his Tabby’s Place family shower on him every day. So in a very real way, Tux would not be here without you supporting him each and every day.
And all those showers of love were reflected in his recent physical exam and chest x-rays that were noted by our veterinarian as “uneventful.” What more can a senior cat ask for?
I certainly appreciate “uneventful” visits with my doctors!
The physical examination was performed after several staff members noted Tux having a decreased appetite. With no medical reason apparent, Tux’s dear friend, Ginny, took a different approach.
Ginny ordered a secret stash of Tux’s current favorite savory treat – Delectables.
You have to believe me when I tell you that it has been MANY years since I watched Tux eat with such enthusiasm.
He claims that there is something particularly magical about his Delectables as they are simply irresistible. Tux shared his treasured stash with Marmalade, a newcomer to the Community Room, who is a senior kitty, like Tux.
Adjusting to life at Tabby’s Place has been difficult for dear Marmalade, and she generally chooses to linger in quiet corners and freeze when spotted or spoken to. But, when offered Tux’s favorite treat, Marmalade couldn’t resist and dove in as Ginny watched with amazement.
Tux and fellow members of the Community Room welcome committee have tried to tell Marmalade that even more delights await her when she emerges from her crate and joins them in council. Only time will tell, if the magic of Tux’s treats will lure her out into the open more often.
As we approach the longest day of the calendar year, Tux and I encourage you to savor every moment. Time does indeed fly, but never too fast to appreciate a good friend like you!
