Update for Tux

Nothing beats a nap in the sun…

Dear Friend of Tux,

Here in Ringoes, New Jersey, April showers have certainly brought May flowers and warm sunshine. The temperatures have been unseasonably warm this year. You won’t hear any complaints from our friend, Tux. Warmth is soothing for the soul, and Tux is happy to curl up and soak in the sunshine.

While Tux recharges in the sunshine, his friends delight in the frequent bird activity at the Community Room window feeder.

… unless you are an avid bird watcher.

Tux certainly found joy in bird-watching in his younger years, but it no longer tickles his fancy the way it once did. Today he leaves that to his younger friends, Rick Catsley, Patches, and Gulliver (seen in photo from left to right).

However, when the bird watchers are without live entertainment, they, like Tux, enjoy spending time on the one and only workstation in the Community Room.  As Tux’s dear friend, you know that Ginny’s desk is a favorite location for a great many of the Community Room kitties, and there are times when spots are in short supply.

Good thing that Tux is happy to share with friends.

On a recent afternoon, I walked in on a charming interaction between Tux and Patches. Both were curled up on the prize desk bed with their heads turned in as if in deep (and private) conversation. Perhaps Patches was telling Tux about all the birds she could have caught this morning if that pesky panel of glass wasn’t in her way?

I tried to move quietly, so as not to disturb, and managed one quick photo before they both turned to look at me.

Two friends sharing a secret.

Then I caught a second one.

By the third attempt, Patches was standing up to ask for pets, and the moment was gone.

Mind you, Tux did not budge from his napping spot.

A week later, I found Tux, alone this time, curled up in the very same spot. Having a bed to oneself certainly provides more room for deep sleep and pleasant dreams. It was all I could do to not plant a kiss on his head. Instead, I took a picture of his little black toe beans out on display. His white whiskers began to twitch, and I started to wonder what delights filled his dreams.

While Tux won’t be tiptoeing through the tulips or hunting birds this spring, he is more than happy to dream about them. Maybe he was dreaming of his next meal or his next visit with a good friend like you?

Did I interrupt?

Such sweet dreams are only possible because of your love and generosity, dear friend. Tux and I send you a virtual bouquet of spring blossoms and hope your naps are filled with sweet dreams!
