Update for Tux

This is my happy face.

Dear Friends of Tux,

In this month of Thanksgiving, Tux and I want to begin by wishing you much love and joy as the holiday season gets underway. We are both so very thankful that you are our friend and supporter! If you happen to be in the area of Ringoes, NJ on Sunday, November 19, you can stop by Tabby’s Place to celebrate Thanksgiving With The Cats. While Tux doesn’t always devour his “turkey,” he sure does enjoy seeing friends both old and new.

Do you like to play games?

I always enjoy a good board or card game or a good puzzle.

This month, I learned that Tux too is a fan of a particular game: Hide and Seek.

Well, perhaps I should clarify that Tux enjoys hiding and making humans do the seeking.

Tux discovered a secret hiding spot in the Community Room. He nearly drove our friend, Russel, into a panic one morning when breakfast arrived and Tux was nowhere to be found. Russel asked for staff assistance and together they noticed that the door to a large metal cabinet was slightly ajar. Lo and behold, Tux was curled up on the bottom shelf, quite pleased with his den of solitude.

The staff and morning volunteers were notified to keep the door open until Tux decided to come out.

The next day I went to the Community Room to retrieve something from the same cabinet and when I opened the latched door, Tux came flying out. It seems he had hidden himself while someone wasn’t paying attention and got shut in there. He hadn’t made a sound of complaint, but he sure came out in a hurry.

Now I find myself double-checking the cabinet each time I go in there.

“Tux makes a good pillow,” thinks Shelley.

Hide and seek is typically a game that youngsters take great pleasure in playing. Recently adopted kittens, Oasis and Marvin, found excitement in tunnel play together. But it seems that hide and seek is not just a game for the youngsters, but also the young at heart, like Tux.

Since the clocks turned back, the senior cats of the Community Room are back to lavishing in the few hours of sunlight that they have each day. I don’t blame them. I think it is time to bring out the UV light for the season. It is also a good time to cuddle up under a warm blanket or cozy in with a friend. Tux and his good friends, Shelley and Harvey, know all about cuddling together.

Wishing you a season of cozy with good friends and family. Why not play a game together to keep your spirits bright and your mind sharp? Tux highly recommends it.
