Update for the Kitten Fund

Cantus & Sprocket: bonded grays!

Dear Lovers of Kittens,

As our season transitions, so evolves Tabby’s Place. The time when Quinn’s Corner is incorporated into the whole of Tabby’s Place draws ever closer.  Soon the expansion will be usable space and new horizons will open up for some of the neediest cats. Ever the darlings of Tabby’s Place, kittens continue to flow through the extensive foster care network and pop up in curious places throughout the halls of Tabby’s Place as they await their forever homes.

Fantasia, who was fostered by Dr. Collins (Our vet at Tabby’s Place) came to us from another rescue that had difficulty keeping up with her medical needs. Prior to her arrival she had failed blood transfusions and was anemic on presentation. Once Dr. Collins evaluated her, she started medication for hemolytic anemia. Though there has been improvement, her levels her still below optimal. Ultrasounds have been given, meds adjusted, and blood work continues to be monitored. The silver lining is that she is active, has a good appetite, and has the sweetest of dispositions.

It seems that life at Tabby’s Place would just be too boring without at least a tiny bit of ringworm. The Dungeons and Dragon kittens have tested positive for trichophyton (a gruesome sounding but less contagious form of ringworm). They visited for a single dip and have returned to their staff foster homes where they are cultured weekly for ringworm.

Cordelia

If you are looking for a pull-at-your-heartstrings story look no further than Octavia, a new kitten who is blind because of eye injuries/deformities. When she is big enough, she will have bilateral enucleation to remove both defective eyes. She is currently being fostered by our Director of Volunteers, Karina, where she now gets to run around with the big kitties. Hoping for the best for this sweet little nugget.

Joan, Blondie, and Izzy (8O’s Rock lives on!) were spayed and neutered and fortunately, Joan and Izzy are slated to be adopted together. Carrie, Ripley, and Damien finally transitioned to their respective homes and are reported to be doing very well. Ripley had a bit of an issue rubbing at the site of his eye surgery and needed to go on antibiotics and a course with warm compresses. He gave the treatment very poor reviews on Yelp and said he would not recommend this spa treatment!

As part of the cavalcade of kittens, we have Chandler (tabby), Monica (black), Viggo (long hair black and white, Icing (B& W and as sweet as the cookie), Cinnamon Bun (tabby), Ezri (light tabby), Kira (black), Cantus & Sprocket (bonded grays), Bellatrix (tortie) and Cordelia (female orange & white). Wouldn’t they make a lovely way to commemorate the twelve days of Christmas? I know, there are only eleven, but you get the idea.

We are still in desperate need of filling some volunteer shifts as we move ever closer to the expansion opening up. Please continue to mention this to your friends’ circle and beyond. As always, we are eternally grateful for your support in helping us to uphold the mission of Tabby’s Place. We hope that this holiday season is filled with joy for you and your family and cannot thank you enough for what you do for our sweet kittens.

Karen
