Greetings, FeLVie Fans!
It’s time once again for another update on our FeLV crew. As usual, there’s lots of news this month, so let’s get started.
Arthur has responded well to steroids. His weight is up and his mood is brighter, but his blood work has not improved. He now has his own bachelor pad, which means he no longer has to compete for food or be disturbed by more active felines.

Oram and Tucker were moved to the suite already occupied by Charles and Hoopla Green. Tucker has lost a bit of weight lately, but when we did blood work, the results were completely stable from the previous check, so good news there.
Oram is occasionally being annoyed by Charles; there are times when Oram simply wants to relax in the solarium, but Charles has other ideas and wants to play right now. Fortunately, Oram is more than capable of defending himself, and these tussles don’t last long. Charles developed a red, scratched ear, so the vet team will change up his treatment routine.
Hoopla Green still prefers to keep to herself, but she is becoming a little more relaxed about humans in her presence. You can walk into the solarium now without her ducking into a cubbyhole or enclosed cat bed. And then there’s Derby.

Last month, Derby was in Quarantine; he arrived with many ringworm lesions. But he’s healed up now and has joined the crew in Suite G. Derby is a very cute black-and-white kitty who is the size of a teenage feline, but our vet team believes he’s actually around two years old. We think he probably had a thin time of it as a kitten, so he’s just very small.
What he lacks in size, however, he makes up for in energy. He adores cat toys and will happily race after a thrown ball or fur mouse. He’s utterly fearless and will trot over to Charles to start a play fight. Derby was initially a bit shy, but he’s made great strides in being sociable with people and will even walk on and off laps at this point. He’s also a talker; he can be very squeaky.

Durin and Ponce continue to co-exist peacefully. We found another neck lesion on Durin that we are monitoring carefully. Ponce has had a good month overall. A staff member noted a slight increase in respiration rate on one occasion, but we believe that was the result of our boy sunbathing in his solarium, and it has not been noted again.
We feel so lucky that we can care for these wonderful cats, and of course, that’s all due to your generosity. Thank you! Don’t forget that our Quinn’s Corner official opening will take place this autumn; look for more information next month.
Your correspondent,
Stephanie
