Dear Friends,

Welcome to the dog days of summer! These long summer days have me moving around the Lounge a bit more. By that, I mean that I’ll switch my window seat occasionally or sit on the table, hoping for someone to share or drop some food. I think I’m quite irresistible, so if I keep hamming it up for the good people of Tabby’s Place, maybe someone will sneak me some treats.

We have a new cat in the Lounge. His name is Bernard. You know how we all have that one friend who can be a pain sometimes? Bernard is that friend. I use the term ‘friend’ loosely. I consider everyone a friend. Not so for Bernard.

Apparently, Bernard likes to be on his own. To help make him – and all of us Lounge cats – more comfortable, Bernard has taken up residence in the staff shower room, which is part of the Lounge, but separated by a door.

Because it’s a relatively small room, the staff lets him out during supervised lunches so he can explore a bigger space. Bernard thinks this is great. He also thinks the shower room belongs to him only.

I recently entered the shower room to investigate the space, but when Bernard saw me, he bopped me on my backside and ushered me out. The nerve!

I am a man of peace, so I held my head high and found solace in my other friends, Leo and Ruchi. Maybe in time, Bernard will learn to share his space with us. In the meantime, I will continue my peaceful lounging and (not so) sly attempts at obtaining food. I have a large waistline to maintain.
