Update for Steven

King of the Jungle!

Dear Team Steven,

Tabby’s Place is always bustling with activity, and this month is no exception! Ringoes, New Jersey, has come alive with some of the most beautiful fall foliage we’ve had in many years. From window perches or in the solariums, the cats watch transfixed as the colorful leaves swirl in the cool, crisp breeze.

As Halloween approached, our sanctuary simply scintillated with enthusiasm! Cats and kittens alike couldn’t wait to join in the festivities. After all, aren’t felines synonymous with this spooky holiday? We hope you enjoy our catwalk of kitties in costume as much as we reveled in the day—see the video at the end of the update. Dignified as Steven is, he chose to dress with at least a bit of decorum, opting for an outfit befitting the king of the jungle … which, of course, he truly is. You can be certain Steven wasn’t going to miss any opportunity for treats!

Tummy troubles mean a new diet…

Troubled by some tummy woes recently, Steven was switched to a gastrointestinal-friendly diet. As a result, our big orange pumpkin warmly greets anyone entering the medical suite with the hope that they’ll offer snacks. We are also monitoring a small cyst on Steven’s hind quarters. He seems to believe this merits extra treats beyond his already generous supply of Halloween goodies. Steven believes there simply aren’t enough treats… period.

We are certain he left a urine puddle somewhere as a trick. You do know Steven’s favorite book is I Could Pee on This and Other Poems by Cats, right? Steven practically has each poem memorized! Please enjoy his favorite:

I Could Pee on This by Francesco Marchiuliano

Her new sweater doesn’t smell of me
I could pee on that

She’s gone out for the day and left her laptop on the counter
I could pee on that

Her new boyfriend just pushed my head away
I could pee on him

She’s ignoring me ignoring her
I could pee everywhere

She’s making up for it by putting me on her lap
I could pee on this
I could pee on this

All right, enough of that! In other exciting news, Tabby’s Place was recently featured on the internet as one of Catster’s Heroes of the Pet World. This is a big press moment for the cats and the work we do. You can read our story, beautifully written by our Development Director, Angela, by clicking here.

I could pee on this…

We will celebrate Thanksgiving with the Cats on Saturday, November 22nd, from noon to 4 p.m. If you live in the area (or feel like making a road trip), we would love you to visit on that day. You’ll meet some marvelous cats, terrific staff members, and volunteers, and have a wonderful day of tours, refreshments, and feeding cats turkey bits. Depending on what is going on in the Medical Suite that day, you might get a quick visit with Steven. Please join us if you can!

Thank you for all you do for Steven. He is one very special kitty and knows that your support gives him a very good life at Tabby’s Place.

Tina
