Update for Steven

Hanging out in the Medical Suite!

Dear Team Steven,

Bells are jingling, icicles are tinkling, and Tabby’s Place staff members are once more absorbed with a challenging conundrum: How do you decorate a holiday tree in a home full of cats?

After all, if an ornament sparkles, shimmers, spins, or glimmers, it is certainly going to capture the curiosity of a joyful, fun-loving feline. As sure as a scrap of metallic gift wrap or a bright seasonal bow can capture the fancy of a rambunctious kitten, even a thoughtfully stacked pile of presents can prove enticing to even one of our oldest and wisest cats, like Steven. And, of course, with so many holidays such as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa to celebrate at one time, Tabby’s Place is even jollier than ever!

Speaking of “jolly,” I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the overwhelming turnout of visitors for Thanksgiving with the Cats. Quite a few sponsors came to greet and visit their favorite felines. We can’t begin to express our enormous gratitude to you and all of our supporters for your generosity! At a time when so many of us are carefully keeping an eye on our personal budgets, it is incredibly meaningful and heartwarming that you keep the cats in the forefront of your thoughts. It gives Steven and me great pause to think of how your generosity saves the lives of so many very special cats.

On the health front, I’m a bit disappointed to tell you that Steven has started to urinate on more things in the Medical Suite. He seems to prefer trash and laundry bags, which is certainly better than on medical charts or equipment. He uses the litter box, too, but it seems old habits are hard to break.

We’ve been gently coaching him a bit on this, as it would be a serious faux pas to wet on Santa’s bag of toys and gifts. That would be an error even the most understanding among us would find hard to overlook!

Ever philosophical, Steven assured us that he certainly knows the difference between trash and treasures.  Of course, he’s right, as always – what could possibly be wrong with us?

Yes, keeping up with Steven will always be a challenge. Sometimes, we’re not completely certain who is actually running Tabby’s Place: our Executive Director, Jonathan, and the rest of the very capable staff, or the cat wunderkind himself, our amazing Steven.

Certainly, his lengthy history here at Tabby’s Place gives Steven a broad overview of how we’re doing as an organization. He’s a wonderful liaison and “spokescat” for his species!  And, just like you, everybody loves the old guy … kinda like we all love Santa! Or so Steven tells me, anyway, and who am I to doubt him?

Once again, we thank you for your faithful generosity to Steven this year and send our deepest gratitude for your continued support. We wish you and your dear ones the brightest of holidays and abundant blessings in the New Year! And, as always, Steven sends his love.

Your correspondent,
Tina
