Update for Steven

Fun at our special PAWs to Read event celebrating Read Across America!

Dear Team Steven,

Tabby’s Place is moving from February into the Ides of March on an upbeat note. It seems we have successfully moved past a potential ringworm outbreak in Quinn’s Corner. Trifecta, identified as “Patient One,” was quickly put in isolation. While this was quite a lonely experience for him, it did stem the tide of spreading ringworm to any other residents. Staff and volunteers alike are singing heavenly hosannas. All the kitties have received a final inspection and Trifecta, now medically cleared, will soon be joined by two other FIV/FeLV double-positive cats in his suite.

Extra attention from the PAWS to Read visitor!

When last I wrote to you, we were all holding our breath, waiting to see if Steven and Gator could coexist in the same suite. We have great news to report: The two feisty felines seem to have left their differences behind and turned over a new leaf. Each of the fellas, as I affectionately call them, seem to enjoy resting on the elevated beds and simply give each other “no never mind.” They are both in good health and it is a peaceable kingdom … at least for now.

Among the photos included in this letter are a few of Steven participating in a special Paws to Read event at Tabby’s Place to celebrate Read Across America Day, which is celebrated on the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Tabby’s Place cats were joined for a day by young children who took the time to read to them. Now, as you can imagine, this is an event Steven particularly enjoys. As our resident philosopher, Steven likes nothing more (snacks notwithstanding) than seeing and hearing children read.  Steven, a sage old cat, just loves watching youngsters explore their world through books. Sharing knowledge and wisdom really is his milieu. Oh, and being gently soothed to sleep by the sweet voice of a child reading isn’t too shabby either.

This month, Steve’s special shout-out goes to a special sponsor in Florida. Never does she fail to ask that her love be delivered to her “New Jersey cat.” It’s amazing how the internet can help us overcome the distances between us to create profoundly intimate, soulful connections.

As always, Steven and I thank each and every one of you for your continuing sponsorship and support. Steven’s world is a joyous—cozy and comfortable—and very safe place because of your kindness and generosity.
