Dear Team Steven,
It seems we’ve bypassed spring and are rolling right into summer this year! As always, for the residents of Tabby’s Place that means a rush to the solariums—they’re as popular with our feline friends as our trips “down the Jersey shore.” A little sunbathing seems to be their order of the day and Steven is no exception.
He divides his time between warm windows indoors and cozy sunbeams outside. Of course, the grim gray skies caused by the recent fires in Canada put a bit of a damper on taking stroller rides and really enjoying the great outdoors, as the solariums were closed for nearly a week. Steven, as ever, was very philosophical about it. His concern was for wildlife and other cats potentially losing their homes. He knows not everyone is as fortunate as he is to live here at Tabby’s Place. Steven certainly counts his blessings and you are always among them!
Unfortunately, sunbathing was not the only activity affected by poor air quality this month. The annual memorial garden service for Tabby’s Place residents who have passed in the last year had to be postponed. Steven took this in stride and, like a rock, supported the rest of us by assuring everyone it was very appropriate to wait for blue skies and a sunny day for such an auspicious occasion. To lift morale, he also reminded everyone how incredibly successful our recent Cherish the Kittens fundraising activities have been. All of you Tabby’s Place donors outdid your past generosity and we raised more funds than we could have imagined. This, as Steven sees it, is all a part of the circle of life and a great reason for both contemplation and celebration.
Steven has been in good health this month. He recently welcomed an older lady cat named Millie to his suite. Ever the gentleman, Steven gave her a wide berth and let her take the time to explore her new space. On her first day out, Millie made sure to let all the boys in the room know she had strong opinions about their odors and their very presence. She gave every one of them a hearty hiss just for “being” there. Steven was very understanding and quietly put the word out that Millie was not to be trifled with for even an instant. He is both the wise elder in the suite and the soul of decorum. A lady, after all, must be shown her “propers.” As for the females in the room, Cassie and Millie went nose-to-nose without a sound. We believe they’ve already come to some sort of quiet détente or understanding. And life at Tabby’s Place goes on.
Steven and I want to thank you for your continued support. You are a blessing in our lives. We hope this update letter brings a bit of delight to your day and a smile to your face. Your kindness certainly brings great joy to ours!
