Update for Regina

Dear Team Regina,

“Bonjour, mesa amis et ma famille. C’est Regina. Miaou. Mieux. Ronronne.”

Ahh, there she goes!  Regina (or should I say, “our beautiful “jeune fille”) is busy practicing her French again and angling for a trip to Paris for the Summer Olympics.

Convinced that she will flabbergast the international paparazzi and turn Parisian heads, our little go-getter is making all the right moves to impress staffers, volunteers, and fellow felines alike that some kitty, namely Regina, should be representing Tabby’s Place at the Games. Oh, and by the way, “ronronne” is just a fancy French way of saying, “Purrrrrrrrrrr!”

Regina’s packed her chapeau and her portmanteau. She’s ready to go – buffed, puffed and fluffed.   She is camera-ready and eager for photo opportunities in the warm Parisian sun.  Her couture halter “skoot skirts” will surely earn her gold amongst feline fashionistas and her hair … well, let’s just say she looks picture perfect and podium proud.

But don’t just listen to my undoubtedly biased opinion: We’ve included some of her portfolio shots so you can see for yourself. Que belle! Tres chic, right?

Behind the scenes, it takes a lot of work to put this pretty feline package together, On Memorial Day, Lisa (Tabby’s Place Development Coordinator) was working the holiday shift, so she had to give Regina her sanitary bath. The poor little thing was so scared while being carried to the exam room for her bath, she howled and clung to Lisa’s shoulder. Regina was perfectly fine for the bath itself and the towel dry afterwards but ooh la la – the terrible sounds she made!  Lisa has since learned that others bathe Regina in the sink in her suite, so she doesn’t have to leave her room. We can’t say this bodes well for air travel and Regina’s other travel plans, but she’s assured us she’ll be fine once she gets to the Ritz or the George Cinq. Of course, after Tabby’s Place, only accommodation at a first-class Parisian hotelier will do.

In the meantime, we allow Regina to spin her dreams and practice her ball batting skills with gusto. No one at Tabby’s Place has the heart to tell her there may not be a singles’ Olympic ball batting event at the Paris Games. Frankly, it would be of little consequence to her anyway, as our littlest competitor has become quite taken with beach volleyball and is heartily convinced, she can spike a ball with the best of them. Playing on sand is certainly no problem for a cat of her caliber – and no one (and I mean no one) looks cuter in a “skoot skirt.”

Should we suggest to Regina that beach volleyball is a sport only played by humans? What? And break our darling’s gentle heart and indomitable spirit? Mais non! Regina is a tiny cat with big dreams. Let her put her own spin on the game. She may revolutionize the sport! After that, she’ll be the first pretty kitty to start her own line of Nike sportswear.  Oh, and let’s not forget that trip to Disneyland!

Your correspondent,
Tina

P.S. — As always, we thank you for your generous sponsorship. We promise that your loving gifts will be used for Regina’s necessities — not her trip to Paris!
